- Construction Waste Recycling construction refuse from the Kingsley Lane site will be handled by vendors committed to resource recycling.
- Construction Materials with significant recycled content
- Durable Materialsdurable building materials such as brick, steel, fiber cement siding,
concrete, and metal roofing reduce post-construction use of chemicals, energy, and other resources for maintenance
and replacement.
- Local Productssteel and cement used in Kingsley Lane are being sourced, wherever possible,
to minimize transport distances and energy.
- Standing Seam Metal Roofingprovides reduced life-cycle costs compared to available
alternatives. It is durable, low maintenance, 100% recyclable, and manufactured with at least 25 -50 percent
recycled metal. Standing Seam Metal Roofing is the other "green roof" technology with excellent energy efficiency
characteristics as well as the structural advantages of light weight and fire resistance.
- Low VOC Materialspaints, sealants, and carpets are being selected to minimize emissions and
harmful gasses such as formaldehyde and volatile organic compounds (VOC’s).
- Sustainable Materialsstandard at Kingsley Lane is a choice of bamboo or cork flooring, both
of which are "rapidly renewing resources". Carpeting used at Kingsley Lane is either natural fiber or high in PETE
recycled fibers.

Land preservation through increased density
- The developers of Kingsley Lane Lofts are making a voluntary contribution of $50,000 to the Ann Arbor
Greenbelt fund to encourage a direct financial linkage between higher downtown density and preservation of
outlying farm and recreation property.
- Through this program, every owner at Kingsley Lane is directly assisting the Ann Arbor community’s long-term
land preservation goals.
